The Kirkland Lake area continues to support a strong tourist industry throughout the year. The summers are met with a number of anglers, hunters, and campers looking for adventure. Winters are especially popular as a result of the well maintained snow mobile trails in the area. The Kirkland Lake Festivals Committee hosts an annual Homecoming Week during Canada Day week. The 2011 Kirkland Lake Homecoming Week is scheduled for June 27-July 3 featuring live concerts by Down With Webster with special guests Stereos and The Sam Roberts Band with special guests Bedouin Soundclash, comedian Tracy Smith live at the Northern College Auditorium, a free outdoor Canada Day concert featuring live tributes to Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Bon Jovi and Guns N Roses, kids inflatables, fireworks, children's events, outdoor movies, golf tournaments, free kids matinees and more.
The Kirkland Lake Festivals Committee hosts an annual Winter Carnival beginning in mid-February. The entire community takes part in the celebrations.
The 18-day long 2011 Kirkland Lake Winter Carnival kicked off February 17 with a concert by The Trews followed by An Evening of Sinatra with Rick Sonata & his Starlight Orchestra on February 18 and The Stars of Pop concert on February 19 featuring live tributes to Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Other events for 2011 included the NorthernTel Snowcross Championships the weekend of February 26–27, a $50,000 Fish Derby featuring April Wine at the post-derby pub on Saturday, March 5 plus an oldtimers hockey tournament, 3 nights of Kabaret, free matinees, Mysterion the Mind Reader, the CJKL Carnival Queen Crowning & Fashion Show, the Skating Club's Ice Show, a pub, free skating parties and more.
Kirkland Lake was once a town of many movie theatres, including the only current LaSalle Theatre. Defunct theatres were the Strand Theatre, Uptown Theatre and the drive-in Mel-Ron Drive In.
